What was forecast to be a rain soaked Sunday, it seemed the weather gods were on our side providing the perfect setting for corporate racing. With the lake a mill pond and virtually no wind to speak of, Varsity Lakes was the venue for some fierce competition! The Grand Final came down to the wire with Austar Explosive coming in a close second followed by Austar Dragons and IFAA Super Slayers  to Runaway Bay Sports Super Center.

In the B Division John Flynn Hospital were the clear winners beating crews Burn Baby Burn and Bunnings

GCD Successful in their bid to secure outriggers

Gold Coast Dragons were successful in a grant application to purchase 4 outrigger canoes.
A special thankyou to the Gambling Community Benefit Fund (GCBF) for this wonderful opportunity for our club and to AusDBF, Cr Jan Grew and Varsity Lakes Community Limited (VLCL) for their letters of support for our application.
We will be purchasing 1 x OC6, 1 x OC2, and 2 OC1′s, to add to our wonderful fleet of boats that we already own.
This will allow for some excellent cross-training opportunities, as well as cater for smaller groups that want to go out for a training session outside of regular training times, or when only a few people turn up to training.
The OC1′s will also be a valuable tool for time trials heading up towards States and Nationals, as competition for seats in the boat heats up.

Thursday Night training resumes this Thursday 16 September, 2010

As summer is fast approaching we are now offering extra days training. We now train Tuesday nights, Thursday nights and Sunday afternoons. For more details check our training schedule under our “Training’ tab on the home page
