In the last few months the Gold Coast Dragons have been actively participating and promoting dragon boating and its club in the Varsity Lakes community, and the general larger community.
Each November the GCD compete in the annual Kids in Need regatta held at Jack Evans Boat Harbour in Tweed. This event raises much needed funds for the Kids in Need Association primarily to help kids and families with on-going medical assistance and funding for treatment.
Earlier in the year two boats were donated to smaller clubs at Macleay Island and Ballina to help promote dragon boating, fun and fitness in their communities.
Participation in the Mullum2Brunswick 10 k paddle each May helps raise funds to support Brunswick Heads local surf life saving, the visitor centre and marine rescue operations in the community.
GCD were approached to run a team building activity with delegates of the ParkRun conference held at the Varsity Lakes Sports House facility, to promote team building, fitness and friendships in the broader community.
